This centre consists in residences where guests live. These groups of residences should be considered as communities where guests stay for a restricted period of time, enjoying a climax of interaction which leads to common goals: the complete fulfillment of each guest life and independence. We host Italian and foreign mothers with children who are victims of abuse or social and environmental maltreatment, mothers-to-be who have other children, mothers with children who have just overcome abuses and need a period of time to assess their lives before starting to live by their own and mothers with children who need protection for their minors and in need of psychological and pedagogic support with a particular regard to parent's roles and mother-son relationships. The services the centre offers aspire at the improvement of the hosts’ lives at a general level. It encourages their autonomy, improves their wellness and the psycho-physical conditions, social integration and job placements and if possible promotes family-reunification. The psycho-phisical wellness is guaranteed by the centre. It includes the care and the organization of the relationship context. Activities: The volunteer will serve in a community for mothers with children victims of violence. Volunteers will support educators in their educational work: after-school activities and recreational activities such as board games, outdoor games, listening to fairy tales, handy work, gardening, painting, and various creative workshops. They will support the educator and/or the mothers in the implementation of outdoor activities: sports, games, afternoon outings such as playgrounds, shopping centers, walks to the sea, and swimming pool. The service will include also: mother-child assistance and assistance to mothers in domestic and cooking activities.

The department is responsible for the management of 6 "Crèches" (Age of 2 months - 4 year) and of 12 "Maisons Relais" (Age of 3 years to 12 years). Those "Childcare Centers" (FR: Maisons Relais, Crèches) are responsible for the extracurricular education of children. In total around 3.000 children are subscribed in those "Childcare Centers". In this project the volunteer will have the opportunity to coordinate the production of a newspaper made by children for children. The volunteer can improve his/her competences in the field of IT-skills (Adobe InDesign, Photoshop), project management and pedagogics. Due on the international population of Luxembourg, the volunteer has the possibility to practise the French, German and English language and to get an impression of the different cultures living next to each other. The mobility possibilities are very good, the volunteer can travel to France, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands often in less than 1 hour. The last 3 years we’ve got about 4000 patients, most of them because of human activities (e.g. oil, but also traffic, birds taken by a cat, birds that flew against a window…). Our main goal is the rehabilitation of wildlife so we can release them back into the wild. By doing this we also try to educate the public. The center organizes activities about nature and bird protection for local people. We also support scientific research of different institutes by providing data about the animals that stay in the center. Activities: Long-term EVS will be involved in the daily running of the centre. They will be involved in several tasks, such as: feeding animals, assistance with medical care of fractures, diseases and wounds, catching and releasing birds and animals and administrative work/assistance in organization of activities for fundraising. The volunteer is trained by the staff, other EVS and volunteers. During the project, you will learn everything about revalidation of wildlife, tube feeding, revalidation of oiled wildlife, raising orphaned wildlife, fluid therapy, most common diseases and reasons of being brought in. We organize a short training in raising orphaned wildlife and revalidation of oiled wildlife during the year, specially for our EVS. At all times, there is support of a staff member.

Trabajan para terminar con el comercio de primates y el abuso de primates, promoviendo la rehabilitación de primates cautivos y la preservación de aquellos en la naturaleza, mientras operan un santuario para primates que necesitan un hogar para toda la vida. El refugio para los monos salvados del maltrato es The Monkey Sanctuary, en Cornwall, Reino Unido. Recientemente celebraron el 50 aniversario y han brindado un hogar para atención especializada para más de 160 monos a lo largo de los años. Además de proporcionar un hogar para los monos, trabajan en ecolaboración con otras organizaciones para presionar al gobierno local y central para tratar de lograr un cambio positivo para los primates. Actividades: Todxs lxs voluntarixs harán un mes de trabajo voluntario general como una forma de aclimatarse al santuario. Esto incluirá aprender a preparar comida para los monos, limpiar recintos, crear elementos de enriquecimiento, jardinería y pintura. Después los voluntarios tienen que decidir qué función quieren: - Los voluntarios de "Primate Care" aprenderán cómo convertirse en un cuidador de animales. No se necesita experiencia previa, pero una buena actitud para el trabajo duro es esencial. - El rol de administrador incluye varias tareas en la oficina que pueden incluir ayudar con recaudación de fondos, medios, educación y trabajo general de oficina. No se necesita experiencia, pero debe estar contento de hablar clara y confiadamente por teléfono a grupos públicos y universitarios visitantes. - La función de asistente de coordinador de voluntarios se basa en garantizar que los voluntarios tengan una experiencia agradable y valiosa con nosotros. The volunteers will be, involved in the activities at a local level with children and adolescents.  We offer scholastic support to children in the risk of marginalization.  Summer camp activities through short trips in nature and at the seaside. We give the children and young adults the occasion of socializing, development of creative abilities and providing a good role model for the minors. The volunteers, coordinated and supported by the staff, will participate in these activities: Support the afterschool, open 5 afternoons a week.
